Location: The Project site “Paddle Boat Trailhead at Horseshoe Beach” consists of six separate ownerships located adjacent to the Gulf of Mexico on the east side of a small channelized canal.
Existing Condition: The Project site “Paddle Boat Trailhead at Horseshoe Beach” consists of six separate ownerships located adjacent to the Gulf of Mexico on the east side of a small channelized canal.
Proposed Use:
The Town proposes to develop the project site as a community oriented park and small boat marina. The existing boat dock, fuel tanks and two electrical boat lifts will be maintained. A new canoe/kayak launch will be constructed to enhance the public access to the Gulf of Mexico. Most of the existing structures, septic tanks and seawall will be removed and landscaped with native upland and wetland vegetation.The proposed recreational improvements will also include:
12’ X 16’ – 20’ x 40’ covered picnic pavilion on stilts, tables, benches and Waste Baskets

Fishing Pier
One Tetherball Court
Two Horseshoe Pits
Boat Dock
Community Center
Trailhead with public bathrooms, telephones and showers
Two Boat LiftsAll existing exotic vegetation will be removed and the Town will landscape the Park with primarily native uplands, salt water marsh and transitional vegetation.
The project will also include the construction of a ¼ mile walking trail and the first phase of a two mile non-motorized multi-use Greenway trail leading from the Park along the eastern swale of County Highway 351 inland towards Cross City, the County seat of Government.
